The Financial Services Institute (FSI) is an independent, non-profit organization. FSI wants to demonstrate our commitment to your privacy as an FSI member by disclosing our information practices in connection with the collection and use of personally identifiable information and other personal data (Personal Data). As an FSI member (You or Yours) or user of our website, FSI is disclosing to You the following:
FSI is the sole owner of the Personal Data collected as described. FSI will not sell, share, or rent this Personal Data to others except as described herein. Any third-parties with whom Personal Data is shared for business purposes (e.g., Website hosting company, database administration firm, mail houses, etc.) are prohibited from releasing the Personal Data to anyone else or from using it for purposes other than those outlined herein.
In order to be a member of FSI, You must complete an application form or otherwise provide required information to FSI. During membership application or renewal, FSI requests Your business contact information such as name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address. FSI collects Your business contact information for two reasons: (1) It is generally the preferred contact address by members receiving membership information from FSI, both electronic and regular mail; and (2) FSI uses it for membership surveys to serve You better in the future.
FSI’s Advocacy Efforts
FSI may also collect non-business contact information. FSI does so primarily to determine Your Congressional District, the identity of Your elected officials, or similar information relevant to our advocacy objectives.
FSI may share aggregated demographic information about our membership with legislators, regulators, the media and the public. Such information contains no Personal Data about any individual members.
For operation and maintenance purposes, the Website and any third-party services may collect files that record interaction with the Website (e.g., system logs) or use for this purpose other Personal Data (e.g., IP Address).
Your Personal Data may be used for legal purposes by FSI, in Court or in the stages leading to possible legal action arising from improper use of the Website or the related services. You hereby acknowledge You are aware that FSI may be required to reveal personal data upon request of public authorities.
FSI processes the Personal Data in a proper manner and shall take appropriate security measures to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, or unauthorized destruction of the Personal Data. The Personal Data processing is carried out using computers and/or IT enabled tools, following organizational procedures and modes strictly related to the purposes indicated. In addition to FSI, in some cases, the Personal Data may be accessible to certain types of persons involved with the operation of the Website or providing the requested services (e.g., web master, finance, operations, sales, marketing, legal and/or system administration) or parties (e.g., third-party technical service providers, mail carriers, hosting providers, IT companies and/or communications agencies) chosen by FSI. A list of these third-parties may be requested from FSI at any time.
The Personal Data is processed at FSI’s operating offices and in any other places where the third-parties involved with the processing are located. For further information, please contact FSI’s Member Services Department at 888-373-1840 between 8:30am and 4:30pm ET or by e-mailing at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Personal Data is kept for the time necessary to provide the service requested by You, or stated by the purposes outlined in this document, and You can always request that FSI suspend or delete the data.
FSI Electronic Mail
As part of its membership benefits and services, FSI may electronically mail news of professional interest to You, including information on FSI's advocacy efforts, meetings, events, products, and services.
FSI may utilize social media websites (e.g., Facebook, LinkedIn, or Twitter) to update You and other interested parties about its advocacy efforts, events and other news. Your voluntary participation in these social media efforts is subject to the then current Terms of Service of the relevant social media website.
Participants in FSI social media should be aware of the following:
Surveys, Conference Attendance and Product Orders
FSI may request Personal Data from You on our order form when You choose to attend an FSI conference, event or to purchase a product or service from us. Attendees must provide contact information (such as name and shipping address) and financial information (credit card number, expiration date). This information is used to fill Your order and for billing purposes. If FSI has trouble processing an order, this contact information is used to get in touch with You.
FSI never sells member lists to any outside vendors or firms. FSI may share meeting attendee lists (containing mail addresses, email addresses and/or phone numbers) with sponsors of those meetings.
Other Specific Services
FSI may use an outside shipping company to ship orders, and a credit card processing company to bill users for goods and services. FSI prohibits these companies in its contractual agreements from retaining, sharing, storing or using Personal Data for any secondary purposes.
FSI may partner with another party to provide specific services. When You sign up for these services, FSI will share names or other contact information that is necessary for the third-party to provide these services. These parties are not allowed to use Personal Data except for the purpose of providing these services.
This website takes every reasonable precaution to protect Your Personal Data. When You submit Personal Data via the website, Your Personal Data is protected both online and off-line to the best of FSI's ability.
When our registration/order form asks You to enter Personal Data or other sensitive information (e.g., credit card number and/or social security number), the Personal Data and other information is encrypted and protected using one of the leading encryption software solutions - Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). While on a secure page, such as our order form, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, to indicate You are on a secure page.
While FSI uses SSL encryption to protect Personal Data online, FSI also uses reasonable efforts to protect Your Personal Data off-line. All of Your Personal Data collected by us is restricted in our offices or other work locations.
