OneVoice 2011 presents Peter Sheahan, Alicia Munnell, and Rick Ketchum: What’s their perspective?

Peter SheahanPeter Sheahan, Author and CEO, Change Labs - Tuesday, Feb. 1, 4:30pm

The financial services arena has been reshaped, and so must the very essence of your thinking. Philosophies that have driven your historical success will likely fall short going forward. Decisions and actions by our industry’s current and future leaders will reflect a counterintuitive view through the business looking glass. Best-selling author and entrepreneur Peter Sheahan has devoted more than a decade to challenging business leaders to break down and “flip” the building blocks of their strategic thinking. His OneVoice presentation will crystallize how reinventing your thought process can lead to new options that your competitors are overlooking. Sheahan has distinguished himself as an international thought leader, and is CEO of Change Labs, a model for catalyzing large-scale behavioral changes that result in sustainable competitive advantages. He has written six books, most notably his best-sellers “Generation Y” and “Flip,” and has showcased his extraordinary program through media outlets, including Fox News, CNBC, ABC and the Washington Post, and for clients such as Accenture, Citibank, Google, IBM, and Microsoft.

Alicia Munnell Alicia H. Munnell, Director, Center for Retirement Research and Peter F.  Drucker Professor of Management Sciences, Boston College -  Tuesday,   Feb. 1, 12noon
An “age-wave” is reaching the shoreline of our industry. Is your business ready for the deluge?
Boomers have just begun recovering from the economic tsunami that, in many cases, has washed away their previous retirement strategies. Alicia Munnell, a nationally-recognized expert and leading scholar on retirement planning, will speak to the Boomer population’s altered state of mind, and wealth, on this side of the Great Recession. She will also examine the effects of potential policy shifts relating to taxes, Social Security, and public and private pensions. Before joining Boston College in 1997, Munnell served as a member of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers, and Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy. She is co-founder of the National Academy of Social Insurance, and in 2009 received the Robert M. Ball Award for Outstanding Achievements in Social Insurance. Munnell earned her bachelor’s degree at Wellesley College, a master’s degree from Boston University, and a Ph.D. from Harvard University.

Rick Ketchum Richard G. Ketchum, Chairman and CEO, FINRA - Monday, Jan. 31, 4pm
History may ultimately pinpoint 2011 as the zenith of discovering our industry’s new regulatory DNA, and the role it will play in your business. Reform legislation, new regulatory personnel (mandates? Appointments?) , shifting agency accountabilities…. financial regulation has never been more centered under the magnifying glass of our culture and consciousness. Richard “Rick” Ketchum, chairman and CEO of FINRA, will provide a thorough macro analysis of the upcoming regulatory environment, and connect the dots down to its meaning for your firm and your advisors. This invaluable perspective will be an interactive conversation, including opportunities for you to ask questions. Prior to assuming his current post, Ketchum served as CEO of NYSE Regulation from 2006 to 2009, and as the Exchange’s first chief regulatory officer in 2004. He also held tenures as general counsel for the Corporate and Investment Bank of Citigroup, Inc., president of the NASD and NASDAQ, and director of market regulation for the SEC. You’ll leave this discussion armed with a better perspective on the regulatory framework to overlay on your 2011 and long-term business strategies.
